Roman Pottery Workshop (July 25th)
£70.00
We are very pleased to announce our long-awaited Roman Pottery Workshop, delivered in partnership with Stanwick Lakes and Udig as part of an exciting heritage project exploring Roman pottery in the Nene Valley.
A reconstruction of a 4th Century Roman kiln is being built by volunteers at Stanwick Lakes using historically accurate methods. We will be working with a locally sourced wild clay, based on evidence from a local archaeological site and guided by Derek Roberts of Udig Excavations Ltd.
Join us on Saturday 25th July (10am–5pm) for a full-day, hands-on workshop where participants of all skill levels will create Roman-inspired pottery based on genuine archaeological finds. Explore both wheel throwing and hand-building techniques while learning about the materials and craftsmanship of Roman Britain.
Your work will then be wood-fired during the inaugural firing of the Roman kiln in September. Find more details about the project by clicking here.
